Manicani Island Disaster Relief

Simbahang Lingkod ng Bayan (SLB), RA Kelman, Inc. and SolarSolutions Inc. installed a Drinking Water system powered by solar and charging station with light at Manicani island, Guiuan, Eastern Samar.
Manicani Island is about 30 to 45 minutes boat ride from the town proper of Guiuan, eastern Samar and it is the home of 1,750 individuals who are victims of Yolanda’s destruction.

The system was installed at San Lorenzo Ruiz parish in brgy. Buenevista since it is the center of relief operation in the island.
The system can provide 30 gallons/hour of safe drinking water; can fully charge 40 units of cell phone per day and provides lighting at night time. Rev. Fr. Dennis P. De Leon the parish priest of San Lorenzo Ruiz Parish was very thankful for the system as it gives them safe water for drinking and alternative source of energy since their water and power systems in the island was totally damage by the typhoon Yolanda.
